yes peas!

yesterday we made lunch for anyone who visited pergolina. paulanna made a DELICIOUS pea soup! she had a little salted dried peas garnish sitting pretty on top (or to nibble on the side). plus tiny toasts loaded just the right amount with mouth watering olive oil and salt. a dear friend brought over some horse radish and cheddar "pub cheese" - put that on your toast on the side of your pea soup and viola! heaven! nothing quite like a homemade treat while you shop!

we plan on making lunch again soon... visit our facebook page and hit "like" or follow our twitter page for updates on our menu!

inspiration

paulanna and i had a conversation today about how amazing blogs are. how they allow you to travel and learn about new places, cultures, food, art. blogs introduce to you to new people, amazing visuals and of course, inspire you - or in this case not only inspire, but make you very hungry and longing for a journey! the following images are just the tip of the iceberg. you must must check out the rest of the images of mya henry and eric werner's restaurant in tulum, mexico on the selby - here!

"Most people keep their New Year’s resolutions simple: exercise, save money, volunteer. Mya Henry and Eric Werner took on something more challenging — they made a pact to leave New York and open a restaurant in Tulum, Mexico. Last December, after seven months of planning, building and traveling around the country in search of antiques, they opened Hartwood, which they describe as ‘‘Mexican farmhouse rustic.’’ Werner, who cooked at Peasant in Manhattan and Vinegar Hill House in Brooklyn, helms the kitchen, while Henry, who worked for the Soho Grand Hotel, runs the front of the house. Henry blames her naïveté for fueling their project. ‘‘I’ve never worked so hard in my life — despite being in this paradise.’" - via the NY times

just in... christian lacroix papier

we get to see lots of beautiful things here at pergolina, but sometimes there are certain treasures that come our way that especially take our breathe away. that is how we feel when we open up a box of christian lacroix papier goods. the new journals and note cards are unbelievably beautiful. they are so creatively conceived! they are pure magic.

new in the store - both online and in our brick and mortar...

christian lacroix les anges baroques note cards box set... unique lace-cut construction and whimsical color combinations are like stationery couture...

inspiration - artist lauren brescia

how do we even begin the conversation about how amazing the work of artist lauren brescia is. it hosts an overwhelming amount of references, textures, imagination and whimsical beauty. at the same time her sculptures are almost eerie. the abundance of color and things sliding down, the windows into other worlds, the scale - it all makes for a wonderful art experience.

so excited to have found her work. via here and here.
